INFORMATION ABOUT SS 22
(3 - Meeke Kris / Patterson Chris): retired after SS 22
(84 - Paddon Hayden / Kennard John): We struggled on the first two with the car on the soft sandy surface – the car doesn’t have the power or torque. Again this afternoon it will be damage limitation and we’ll have a push on the last one. I think it will be like train tracks on the second run with it cutting up – we’ll just have to get in to the wheel ruts and see how it goes.
(8 - Ogier Sébastien / Ingrassia Julien): They are nice stages this morning. Today I haven’t been pushing – the aim is to just cross the line so I am not going crazy and you have more time to think when you’re not pushing. The car is going okay so should be good for the last three stages.
(2 - Hirvonen Mikko / Lehtinen Jarmo): Second is the target. Everyone is just monitoring their speed and making sure they don’t make any mistakes and just finish. The stages today were alright. I didn’t like the second one so much but we made it through – so that’s okay. Today has long straights, lots of trees and flat-out corners.
(11 - Neuville Thierry / Gilsoul Nicolas): I think the Wedding Bells stage was good too – and really enjoyed it. Even the last stage – it was really fast and enjoyable. For me it is important to finish in the position I’m in – we’re in good point and if we do well I can get extra points in the power stage.
(7 - Latvala Jari-Matti / Anttila Miikka): I think when I cut one corner a bit there was some fence wire in the grass and it got tangled around the rear damper. I have orders to be clever now. I haven’t been a morning person so I thought it should be this time and have a clean run. There are some tricky parts although the middle stage – Wedding Bells – was the best.
(9 - Mikkelsen Andreas / Nagle Paul): We are cruising at this point – although we’ve been going slower the times have been better. Our plan is to help Volkswagen get more manufacturer points than Citroen. I’m looking forward to coming back next year.
(4 - Østberg Mads / Andersson Jonas): Today has been good and the times have been quite okay. We will try for points in the power stage and I think it will be loose in sections where in others I don’t think road position will matter. The first day was very difficult, yesterday we did a little better although a mistake yesterday cost us but it’s our first time here and we are getting faster and faster and the pace notes are getting better and better.
(22 - Quinn Nathan / MacNeall Glenn): I think I’m having fun – and I’m smiling all day every day. The team is really good and the car is fantastic – we’ve been having a ball and is a dream come true for me. Three stages to go! The car has power, makes all the right noises, goes sideways and even makes me look good doing what I’m doing.
(10 - Al Qassimi Khalid / Martin Scott): The best stages of the rally were today – they’re not slippery. The rally is challenging and experience as it changes grip levels and you must have good car control and not make a mistake. You have to work hard to read the road.
(3 - Meeke Kris / Patterson Chris): The car is back to being perfect to me – thanks to the mechanics who worked hard overnight. They’re happy to see me back in the car although I’m paying the penalty for being first on the road today. The roads this morning were complete marbles – and on a crest it’s so difficult to judge. Enjoyable though – especially the last one, with massive trees lining the finish and you’re in fifth/sixth gear.
