INFORMATION ABOUT SS 21
(27 - Bulacia Marco / Bernacchini Giovanni): It was an amazing rally for us. We started very well and were fighting for first place from the start. I really needed this victory - it's dedicated to my father who has always believed in me and to my home country - Bolivia.
(22 - Tidemand Pontus / Barth Patrik): It's a rally that suits me well and the car worked well too. I hope I can come back here again for sure. We had a bit of a struggle this afternoon and I was a bit nervous, but that's how rallying should be. I'm glad to finish here and I want to say thanks to the team and my co-driver.
(17 - Ogier Sébastien / Ingrassia Julien): A victory is victory of course, but this one feels different from any other. I want to thank my team - they have done a fantastic job.
(3 - Suninen Teemu / Lehtinen Jarmo): Actually, it's more than I hoped for this rally. We were able to have a consistent pace and we stayed away from the problems. At the end, we lost one brake which basically stopped the fight but that's rallying and even without those issues I don't think I would have beaten Ott.
(8 - Tänak Ott / Järveoja Martin): We had the performance to win, but obviously my mistake. I am happy we can take the best from it - we were slowly fighting back. It's been mentally quite a difficult weekend.
(11 - Neuville Thierry / Gilsoul Nicolas): In general, a difficult weekend for Hyundai. It's tough to accept but on the other hand it's part of the game and our sport can be very hard sometimes. The car was okay, I felt comfortable driving it but we can still improve.
(33 - Evans Elfyn / Martin Scott): Strangely, not sure I am satisfied. I think we did a good job until lunchtime today, but we had quite a few issues ongoing this afternoon, some of which were my own doing. Up until that point, I was reasonably happy with how we drove.
(69 - Rovanperä Kalle / Halttunen Jonne): It was a tough weekend - a bit unlucky but that's rallying sometimes. I am quite happy we didn't make any mistakes, our goal was to have a clean race and we had some proper pace at times.
(44 - Greensmith Gus / Edmondson Elliott): It's not been what we wanted, but I just haven't had the feeling and I've made mistakes. As the day went on it got much better and I started to enjoy myself this afternoon.
In a change to the event schedule, Rally Guanajuato Mexico will now finish on Saturday evening (14 March) in the face of fast-changing travel restrictions connected with the global COVID-19 virus outbreak. With the unanimous support of WRC Promoter and manufacturer teams, Rally Guanajuato Mexico organisers have requested the FIA to bring forward the finish from Sunday afternoon. The event will now end after SSS21 Rock & Rally León with a podium ceremony in the arena. With many countries globally imposing travel restrictions, all parties agreed every effort should be made to ensure safe and timely travel home for officials, competitors and team personnel. With more than 75 percent of the rally’s competitive distance having been completed, full FIA World Rally Championship points will be awarded. |
